La canción se escribió en Agosto de 1989 en los estudios Standbridge, junto a mucho material que luego quedo a un lado para el álbum Liberty, si prestan atención podrán escuchar el aporte de John en melodía y letra (por que Simon la olvida y John la completa) es una melodía de John y la letra habla del momento en que estaba la banda y su compromiso con el álbum, Simon opino “Entramos a un granero en Sussex y comenzamos a zapar lejos de todos, y fuimos terminando algunas canciones que de alguna manera quedaron fuera después , pero creo que la banda con Warren y Sterling sonaba muy bien” Bottleneck, fue una canción que mereció otra continuidad y quedo olvidada, aunque algunos creen que es el origen de "Sin Of The City" grabada 3 años despues.
